What is Starter Birds?
An independent marketplace for brand-new starter businesses. One owner invents small shops, stands them up as real birds, and sells the keys. Not a brokerage. Not a course that ends in homework.
You get a finished starting point you can operate. The flock stays small.
Who is this for?
Operators who want a finished starting point and will run it. People who can picture the first 30 days: answering customers, keeping a book, posting real work, saying no to scope that does not fit.
It fits if you would rather buy architecture plus assets than invent the loop from a blank Notion page. It also fits if you already have a niche in your head and want it packaged to the same standard as a flock bird. See Your idea.
Who is this not for?
Anyone who wants guaranteed income, a rented audience, or someone else to keep operating after the handoff. If you need a marketing retainer, a customer list waiting for you, or a custom enterprise rebuild the week after purchase, this is the wrong shelf. See What this is not.
It is also the wrong shelf if you want us to stay as a partner running the daily shop. Full handoff is included. After that afternoon, you operate.
What do I actually get?
The package standard under What's included: a live URL ready to transfer, the working product and source, a payments path you attach to your own account, brand starter (logo and colors when they bring a site, email-ready admin, prompts and starter content as the listing names), the Nest, a simple SOP, a one-page handoff sheet, and a 3 / 6 / 12 month growth plan. Social accounts ship only when a listing says so.
The listing names anything extra that bird needs: SMS, a hold book, memberships, and so on. Industry notes and revenue maps on a listing are labeled if they are examples. Open a live listing, or poke the sample pair: Maple Latch shop and its Nest.
What is the Nest?
The owner command center that ships with every bird. Same shape every time, tuned to that shop: overview, sales, analytics, social, this week's ops, customers, keys, and the growth plan. It is where you run the week after handoff.
The sample Nest is Maple Latch, a fictional curb-install shop in Petaluma. Demo data only. Not for sale. Use it to see how a finished bird feels from the owner's chair: See a sample Nest.
What does setup / handoff included mean?
One bounded afternoon together. We transfer the URL, hosting, and admin. You attach your payments account and we confirm a test charge. We walk the first operating loop. We leave the handoff sheet and the 3 / 6 / 12 month growth plan.
Full handoff afternoon is included in the bird price. A listing may also include a short post-sale help allotment and an hourly rate for extras after that — for example Hold the Slot: 2 hours included, then $50/hr; production bugs in what was sold free for 30 days. That is still not a marketing retainer and not “we run it for you.” After handoff, you operate. Details under Handoff and on each listing.
Will you run the business for me?
No. After handoff it is yours: customers, copy, calendar, taste, support. Another bird later is a new sale, not an open ticket on the one you bought.
If you want us to invent and package a concept you are carrying, that is the commission path under Your idea. Same hard stop after handoff.
Are the numbers on listings real revenue?
Only if the listing says so. Example and projected figures are planning tools so you can see a shape, not last year's P&L and not a promise. Churn, your hours, and your local market sit outside any pretty monthly number.
The Maple Latch Nest sample uses consistent fake data on purpose so you can study the rooms without mistaking it for a live sold bird.
How much does a bird cost?
Hold the Slot is on the shelf at $2,500. That price includes the package standard and the full handoff afternoon. Post-sale support terms are on that listing.
A commission is invent plus build, so it is typically more, priced after a short brief. Not a surprise invoice after the work starts. See Your idea.
What about refunds and keys requests?
A keys request on this site is not a charge and not a completed sale. We write back to finish the handoff named on that listing. Refunds are tied to whether the bird matches the listing and whether the agreed setup was delivered. See Terms.
What happens after I buy?
We write back, agree on the price, then settle the bird via Wise.com or bank transfer (not a card checkout on this site). You get a private payment request when we are ready. Then we run the handoff named on that listing. For Hold the Slot, see that listing. Pipeline under How a sale works.
Can I request a custom bird?
Yes. Bring a niche, a customer, and a loop you can picture in 30 days. We package it to the same standard as a flock bird, scoped after a brief. We say no if you want us to operate it.
When it is done, you take the same handoff. Start at Your idea.
I have passion, but not a business idea yet.
That is what The Seed is for. A short guided sit for people who only want to run something they already care about. We help you condense what you feel into a Seed, the first living shape of a Bird, then we write you.
If you already have the words, send a brief under Your idea.
